AEG hobs generally come in four widths, the mostly common 60cm width, 70cm, 80cm and 90cm wide. However, AEG also manufactures electric hobs that are 40cm, 71cm and 75cm wide. AEG designs hobs according to the consumers’ needs, which include gas, electric, induction, built-in hotplates, traditional gas ring burner, or a more modern-day ceramic hob.
The traditional gas hobs use natural gas as a fuel source. AEG’s gas hobs are equipped with sealed burners, continuous grates, electronic ignition, flame failure safety devices and liquefied petroleum (LPG) conversion kits. Electric hobs, electric powered cooking appliances, are designed with quick heating elements, electronic touch controls, residual heat indicators, child proof safety switches, automatic switch-off functions and timers for all elements. Novel and sophisticated induction hobs use magnets to generate an electric current that results in heat production. Most induction hobs use “Power boost” on all their burners, electronic touch controls, child safety control locks, automatic warm-up functions and residual heat indicators. Ceramic hobs encompass a flat cooking surface, made of ceramic, covering the heating elements. Ceramic hobs incorporate the latest ‘Direktouch’ controls, which allows direct access to the consumer’s desired cooking level or slide along the scale, electronic touch controls and an Automax Control that reduces heat automatically to preset power level following boiling. These hobs also contain a touch control sensor, which enables simultaneous heat reduction of all elements as a safety precaution to allow the consumer to leave the hobs unattended when required. Some other safety options include the child/user safety locks, function control locks, an auto safety switch off allowing automatic power shut-off if hobs are accidentally left on, and residual heat indicators.
AEG have introduced a new line of hobs known as the ‘Front-line future design’, which is a modular range of hobs including their hoods and accessories for creative chefs requiring specific kitchens. This novel design consists of full induction hobs, front-line controls, touch controls, child/user safety control locks, an auto safety switch off, residual heat indicators and timer signals.
AEG hobs are available at a range of prices, some reasonable and some that are more at the high-end of the price range. For instance, AEG electric hobs, which include the competence 6010K electric hob (60cm) is valued at £300, AEG 76331KFN electric hob (80cm) estimated at £525, AEG FM4800TYAN electric hob (40cm) is more luxurious costing £1200. Stainless steel hobs are valued at approximately £260. Gas hobs are estimated to be between £100 and £360, induction hobs are quoted at a price range of £500 to £1200 and ‘Front-line future design’ hobs are valued between £925 and £1395.
